Marmaris is a great place to go shopping if you know where to go. You won’t find a huge shopping mall but rather areas that are populated with all sorts of shops, big and small. There’s also the traditional marketplace and bazaars.

The shops, well they’re everywhere. Let’s start with downtown Marmaris. This is the original area where shopping begins for both locals and tourists alike. It’s a big place and open all year round. You’ll find mainly clothing and most of them always have items on sale, discounted clothing. If you know where the Marmaris post office is, then you know where to start. This area is really the marketplace. From supermarkets to eye glass shops to restaurants, cafes, toy stores, computer stores, souvenir and gifts stores, accessory/beauty/perfumery shops, and more. It’s setup like a grid and you just have to look around. There is an over abundance of t-shirt / jeans and handbag shops that are geared at tourists. These shops you have to haggle as you won’t find any prices tags on items.

Another area to shopping is across from the main promenade. This is wear the locals shop. You can also find fast food restaurants, banks, pet shop, hair dressers, accessory shops and currency exchange offices.

If you looking for fresh vegetables and fruit and other homemade foods, the famous Marmaris Bazaar otherwise known as the ‘Pazar’ is available. It’s located about 150 meters from the Marmaris beach, the second main street from the beach in a large open building. It is open twice a week, thursdays (which is the most popular day), and also on Sundays. Sundays you can only find fresh fruit and vegatables and homemade dough products, cheeses, olives, etc. The one on Thursdays offers more of a selection inclusive of clothing, linen, sweets, shoes, kitchen supplies and more. It’s best to go to the bazaar later in the afternoon or early evening when prices drop so that the vendors aren’t left with anything to take back with them.

There is one big shopping place in a single building called Tansas. Tansas is a large 2 level supermarket and carries all sorts of foods and clothing, appliances, and kitchen and bath accessories along with beauty products.

The largest of all supermarkets you can find along the main Marmaris – Datca highway, such as Tempo (Tesco) and Kipa hypermarket. Also on this main highway you will find huge furniture stores and other industrial shops. If you’re looking for something specific, just ask us!
