Marmaris Culture House Opens Soon
Although this may seem old news, dating back to March 2012, I did some research and apparently the only news of this I saw was in Turkish and all copied from one news agency to another. This is why I decided to write about in English. This kind of news is important I feel for the expats and committed visitors who come to Marmaris each year.
The old “Hal”, otherwise known as the enclosed fish and produce market in the Kemeralti district of Marmaris is no longer there for those who have been there to buy fresh fish and produce.
It has moved to the Marmaris Public Market building and is open throughout the week, and not only on Thursdays and Sundays like the public market itself. So for those who used to shop at the Hal building can now, not only buy their fresh fish, meats and poultry there, but also pop over to the Marmaris public market for their fresh produce and other homemade foods and household items.

The New Marmaris Culture House & Handmade Crafts building
The old Hal, soon to be the New Culture House will have a display gallery on the main level. The upper level will hold ten workshops in separate areas for handmade craft lessons for the women of Marmaris.
According to various news agencies, the renovation is expected to be completed by the end of May 2012. The building was an eye sore, so it will be nice to have a newer fully renovated building by the Marmaris archeology park it neighbors.
It’s expected that car traffic will be reduced substantially due to this new replacement project in the building, as stated in the local news.
