No need to wait for Summer… Let’s Get Dirty!

For those of you who find that the summers are too hot in August, and planning a Spring vacation in Marmaris, you might find that there is much to do in Marmaris in April and May. One great outdoor activity to participate in are jeep safaris. Yes, that’s right, jeep safaris. But be prepared to get dirty and “culturized”!

For many years jeeps safaris in Marmaris have been quite popular as you are not limited to just the immediate region of Marmaris city. There are over a dozen villages with magnificent bays and hilltop sceneries to take pleasure. Jeep safaris are not only about tracking through creeks and mud, it’s also about absorbing the scenic drives and fresh air.

Jeep safaris are fun because they are organized in groups – we’re talking about, anywhere from 2 – 5 jeeps on a trip. They all travel from one village to the other and in between these travels you’ll find serene creeks and paths made just for jeep safaris.

It is traditional to have water gun fights during these trips. So be prepared to get wet! … it’s at least better than macaroni fights which is what they used to do on these jeep safaris! :)

The jeeps travel about a 90 km distance which is made up of 30 km of off road travel. During these trips, visits to the villages for traditional village cuisine adds a bit of character.  So its not all fun and dirt!  You’ll need your energy! You need to feed!    Some of the most common foods would be gozleme (very thin pastry sort of like a tortilla wrap stuffed with either potatoes, or feta cheese and parsley, or seasoned ground meat, or vegetables).  Another flavor you might experience is the Marmaris village honey, and the frothy ayran (home made yogurt drink) …stocking you up on major vitamins!

So you don’t have to wait until the summer to enjoy a fun filled day on a jeep safari in Marmaris!
